Brooklyn’s mama is a poet, author, mentor, social justice advocate, all round legend and my aunty by Yolngu gurrutu, so this shoot was that little bit more precious (I got to sneak on the other side of the camera for cuddles and a family portrait without it being super odd!). Baby girl is named for her Daddy’s first home in New York, the place where he and Mel’s story began. Phoenix? Well, who wouldn’t want to share a name with a mystical bird that rises from the ashes with renewed youth?
