R Ä R R I W U Y | a portrait of home

Rarriwuy lives between two worlds.

One is defined by her own choices and successes- the urban sprawl, the canvas of light and colour and fast-paced action that is life in the city; the glitz and glamour and exhaustion and 14-hour days that characterises working in the film and TV industry. It’s a world that creates that stories we lap up- small town kid fulfils big city dreams, and now there she is on your TV.

The other is defined by 60,000 years of culture, gifted to her by her ancestors. It is the salt in the air and the bare feet planted in red dust and the quiet hum of a land barely altered by humankind. It is knowing her place has long been created for her by the cycles of life and song and ceremony that weave her culture together. It is unabashedly, wholeheartedly Aboriginal.

Rarriwuy is positive polarity in woman form, and it is amazing to see.
